On the auspicious occasion of the birth of Gautam Buddha, the nation’s pride and immortal light, I would like to express my heartfelt auspicious good wishes to all Buddhists, Nepalese people living home and abroad, and the believers in Buddha’s teachings of fraternity, peace, non-violence, and kindness .
In our country of inclusive, proportional representative, and democratic society based on federal structure, a society oriented toward speedy economic and social transformation, durable peace, good governance, and steady prosperity with a campaign to foster unity, tolerance, and goodwill amid ethnic, linguistic, religious, and socio-cultural diversity, the teachings and guidelines of Buddha have remained inspiring and exemplary for us all. If we could adhere to the four Aryan truths in our lives by assimilating the teachings of Buddha, the internal peace and the sense of fraternity shall be enhanced in us without any doubt.
In the end, on this sacred day of the country’s glorious son Gautam Buddha’s birth in the holy land of Lumbini in Nepal, and on this coincidental day of his birth, enlightenment, and death, I would like to express that may the principles of goodwill, cooperation, and coexistence inspire us all while we are celebrating Buddha Jayanti today.
