Message on World Environment Day (June 5) 2021
On the occasion of World Environment Day (June 5) 2021, I would like to express my heartfelt good wishes for the happiness, peace and prosperity of all Nepali brothers and sisters living at home and abroad.
This year we are celebrating World Environment Day with the slogan” New Thinking and Creation for the Restoration of Natural Ecosystem” by focusing on the restoration of ecosystem. I have taken this day as a day for all of us to take a vow to materialize constitutionally assured right to live in a clean environment by improving environment around us and making vibrant the interrelations of flora, fauna and humans with water, air, land and forests.
I am confident that this occasion will further inspire us to implement our commitments made in different international fora for the reduction of the impact resulting from air, water and land pollution though our role in the global environment pollution is negligible.
Excessive exploitation of natural resources by humans has created an imbalance in the eco system around us. I would like to make heartily call upon all to promote environment friendly activities by adopting nature friendly lifestyle to restore ecosystem.
I am confident that we will be able to achieve our common aspiration of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’ if we can assimilate the concept of sustainable development while undertaking infrastructural development in our country which is rich in biodiversity and natural resources.
The government of Nepal has issued prohibitory orders in various cities and districts to control the infection of COVID-19 pandemic which has again been spreading intensely. Therefore, I would like to heartily urge all to be safe and aware of the public health standards while participating in creative activities including community sanitation and tree plantation in order to celebrate World Environment Day.
Finally I would like to express my good wishes that may this day inspire all of us to move ahead in the common objective of environment protection and would like to thank those involved in fulfilling the arduous responsibility of conserving and promoting environment including Ministry of Forest and Environment, other ministries related with infrastructure development, provincial and local bodies, security agencies, local communities, and development partners.
Thank you
