In line with the article 238 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal and upon the recommendation of the Constitutional Council, the Right Honorable President Mrs. Bidya Devi Bhandari appointed the Acting Chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA)Mr. Deep Basnyat as the Chief of CIAAon Monday the 22nd of May 2017. On the same date, as per the article 240 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal and upon the recommendation of the Constitutional Council, the President also appointedMr. Tankmani Sharma (Dangal), a resident of Ithari-2, Sunsari, as the Auditor General of Nepal.Thenewly appointed CIAA Chief and the Auditor General took the oath of their offices from the Acting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Mr. Gopal Parajuli amid the dignifying presence of the Right Honorable President in a special ceremony organized at the Presidential Palace, Sheetal Niwas. On the occasion, the Right Honorable Prime Minister, the Right Honorable Speaker of the Legislature-Parliament, the chiefs and office bearers of the constitutional bodies,and the high-placed officials of the Government of Nepal were also present.
