Message of Felicitation on the Occasion of International Women’s Day 2021
On the occasion of the 111th International Women’s Day, I would like to congratulate and express my best wishes for happiness, peace, and prosperity of all sisters at home and abroad.
International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8 March every year to ensure full realization of women’s rights and gender equality while commemorating the political, economic, and social achievements made so far by women involved in different sectors across the world.
This year, we are celebrating the 111th International Women’s Day with our national resolution: “Women’s security, respect, and employment: the foundation for Nepal’s prosperity.” To materialize this resolution, individuals, families, societies, institutions, and all organs of the state should move ahead in unison to eliminate all economic, social, and cultural inequalities prevailing among men and women. Active cooperation and participation of males, who constitute half of the population, are equally essential to ensure gender equality.
To fulfill this aim, women’s equal access to education, health, and employment including in public services, facilities, and opportunities should be ascertained. Moreover, I feel that additional efforts in implementation should be made to ensure women’s proportional participation in political and public institutions as per the provisions of the Constitution of Nepal.
Finally, I wish that may this day inspire all of us to be more sensitive to the women’s rights, interests and dignity while providing added incentive to the gender equality activists in their field of work.
Thank you.
